About Jesse

Jesse Hull is a retired Infantry Paratrooper with multiple combat deployments to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria. After years of leading soldiers in extreme conditions, his career culminated at The United States Army Alaska's Noncommissioned Officers Academy as the number one Instructor and Senior Instructor for three consecutive years until his retirement.

Jesse turned his focus to guiding kids and families through the power of martial arts. He holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and has over 20 years of experience training and teaching. He completed his bachelors in Outdoor Studies from Alaska Pacific University Where he created a curriculum to train and accredit Jiu-Jitsu instructors as his Capstone project. Upon Jesse graduation, immediately opened Southside Jiu-Jitsu Academy with two partners.

Jesse is also a dedicated homeschool parent living in Alaska. Combining his military discipline, Jiu-Jitsu knowledge, and homeschooling experience, he created Homeschool BJJ — an at-home martial arts curriculum designed to build confidence, discipline, and strength in kids, right from the living room.

Through Homeschool BJJ, Jesse now helps families all over the world bring structure, movement, and mindset into their homeschool days using real martial arts principles that work on and off the mat.
